"Pensée" is a play on words, combining the French pensée (“thought” or “reflection”) with pansies in bloom. The sculpture depicts a lizard crossing a sandy desert, carrying seashells on its back, from which delicate pansies emerge.
Beyond its surreal imagery, the work reflects on the fragile state of the contemporary world. It speaks not only to environmental degradation, but also to the consequences of conflict and war. The desert becomes a metaphor for landscapes, both physical and emotional, that are gradually emptied through cycles of destruction. The piece calls for reflection on the choices that shape our shared future, before what remains is only an empty desert.
