Shelter is a white ceramic sculpture I created a few months before the war as a symbol of the insecurity I felt and the struggle of every human being to gain inner peace during hard times. I photographed it for my portfolio on a completely white background as a symbol of space between a person and the hostile environment our world can be.
This artwork exists only in a few pictures and in my memories. It was destroyed during my evacuation from Kyiv suburbs when the war started. After spending a day under russian missile attacks in my apartment not far from the border with belorussia, my husband and I decided to evacuate with our dog, cat, and budgie. We also managed to pack my most valuable artwork and materials into our small hatchback. However, this particular work was totally damaged.
